Terms of service
The ordinary agreement that makes the uncommon thing possible.
Last updated: 2026-04-27
1. Acceptance and eligibility
By creating an account, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account. Accounts that include information about a child are created and managed only by the child's parent or legal guardian. If you do not agree, do not sign up or use the service.
2. What the Service is
TIE Academy is a parent-facing guidance platform. We help parents raise thoughtful children in the age of AI through a structured child profile (the Spec), an AI-generated Initial Report, a weekly roadmap, an AI assistant that answers parenting and developmental questions, GETIT-shaped real-world learning kits, and discovery of TIE Academy programs. The service is offered on a free tier and on paid premium tiers. TIE Academy programs may carry separate enrollment fees. See our pricing page for current terms.
3. AI Use Notice
This service uses artificial intelligence — including Anthropic's Claude and OpenAI's models — to generate insights, reports, recommendations, and conversational responses. Please read this section carefully.
- AI can make mistakes. AI-generated outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or inappropriate for your specific situation. Always apply your own judgment.
- We do not diagnose. Nothing on this platform is a medical, psychological, educational, developmental, or behavioral diagnosis. Outputs are observational and reference-oriented, never diagnostic.
- We do not replace professional help. For concerns about your child's development, mental health, learning differences, medical needs, or any legal matter, please consult a licensed professional. Our outputs are not a substitute for clinical, educational, or legal advice.
- This is a reference and conversation-starter tool. Use the platform as one input among many — alongside your own observation, your spouse or co-parent, your pediatrician, your child's teachers, and the licensed professionals who know your family.
- Imperfect by design. We will keep improving the service, but human judgment from licensed professionals always takes precedence over our outputs. If our output and a qualified professional's guidance disagree, follow the professional.
4. Account responsibilities
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. Each parent should maintain a single account; do not share login credentials. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your authorization. We use Clerk to handle authentication; your authentication credentials are governed by Clerk's terms in addition to ours.
5. Intended use
The service is intended for personal, family use by a parent or legal guardian acting on behalf of their own child or children. You may not scrape, resell, redistribute, or otherwise commercially exploit the service or its outputs. You may not use the service to provide guidance to children other than your own without that child's parent or guardian creating their own account.
6. Prohibited uses
You agree not to use the service in any of the following ways:
- To abuse, harass, threaten, or impersonate any person, including TIE Academy staff and other users.
- To make medical, psychological, or educational decisions about a child who is not your own, based on AI outputs from this platform.
- To extract or export data — including child profiles, AI outputs, or any platform content — for the purpose of training competing AI models or building competing products.
- To attempt unauthorized access to other users' accounts or to non-public areas of the platform, or to interfere with the integrity, security, or performance of the service.
- To upload content that is unlawful, infringing, or that contains another person's personal information without their consent (including the personal information of other people's children).
- To use the service in ways that violate applicable laws, including child protection, privacy, and consumer-protection laws.
7. Subscription, billing, and refunds
Premium subscriptions are billed through Stripe. We currently offer a 7-day trial that requires a payment method at signup; if you do not cancel before the trial ends, the subscription auto-converts to the plan you selected. We send a reminder email before the trial converts. You may cancel a subscription at any time from the Settings → Billing area; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Program enrollments are separate one-time charges. Our refund policy and any keep-PDF-on-cancel goodwill rules are summarized on our pricing page; the Korean Consumer Protection Act and U.S. state consumer-protection rules are preserved where they apply.
8. Modifications and termination
We may update the service from time to time and may modify these terms; for material changes, we will provide reasonable notice by email or in-app banner before the changes take effect, and we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. You may close your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that present a risk to other users, to children, or to the integrity of the service. On termination, your access ends; certain provisions (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, governing law, and the AI Use Notice) survive.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties — express, implied, and statutory — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that AI-generated outputs will be accurate, complete, or appropriate for any particular family or child. We are not liable for educational outcomes, developmental outcomes, admissions outcomes, career outcomes, or any decision a parent or third party makes based on the service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the service is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100). Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain liabilities; in those jurisdictions, these limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted.
10. Children's accounts
Information about children under 13 is collected and processed only with the consent of the child's parent or legal guardian, in line with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) framework and equivalent laws in other jurisdictions. The parent — not the child — is the account holder. Children do not have separate accounts on TIE Academy in this version. Parents can review, modify, or delete their child's data at any time from the Spec and Settings areas. Detailed handling of children's data is described in our Privacy Policy.
11. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States of America, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. The state and federal courts located in Delaware will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the service, except where applicable law grants you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence. Nothing in this section limits the rights of Korean residents under the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), the Consumer Protection Act, or other mandatory consumer-protection rules in their country of residence.
12. Contact
